This new firmware will be one of the final Android 4.4.2 KitKat test builds for the Galaxy Note 3. This also means that this leaked firmware will be almost identical to the final release as no other new features will be included or excluded in the future builds for Note 3 other than some minor bug fixes and improvements. We expect Samsung to start releasing out the 4.4.2 KitKat update to all Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9005) owners within these two weeks. Updates will begin in phases and naturally, it will take months before reaching all countries and carriers.
The changes are very similar to Galaxy S4’s KitKat update. There are some minor UI changes and the status bar icons have been changed from green to the new KitKat white. Performance has also significantly increased with the update and benchmark scores are simply through the roofs. Improvements have also been made to the lockscreen. It now has a camera shortcut as well as a full screen album art display when playing music.
