A couple of years ago, the ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 4090 stole so many pairs of eyes and attention thanks to the premium-class liquid AIO cooling paired with a super cool design. This year, the same name returns for the RTX 5090, but this card – A completely different beast of its own league.
This new model runs a superior quad-fan vertical airflow design (3 front, 1 back) that delivers air pressure by up to 20% compared to traditional cooling systems. Combined with a patented vapor chamber, a full-copper heatsink, and liquid metal thermal compound applied directly on the GPU die, ASUS claims it delivers substantial temperature reductions even under heavy loads.
Speaking of heavy loads, they meant REAL BUSINESS – 800W of power draw instead of the reference 575W, thanks to the support of the 16-pin 12V-2×6 connector in addition to the ASUS’s proprietary BTF (Back-to-the-Future) connector, which provides higher power limits and installation flexibility.
All of this? 10% high performance than conventional models, but 10% of an already beefy processing power can spell a lot, so there’s that.
It also comes with customizable Aura Sync RGB lighting as well as Auto-Extreme manufacturing for long-term reliability, and a unique Memory Defroster feature for LN2 overclockers looking to push the GPU beyond conventional limits.
ASUS has yet to reveal official pricing or final SKU details, but with its limited availability and anniversary branding, it’ll surely be the hottest item in the market.
