In conjunction with COMPUTEX 2024, Synology has officially announced its new ActiveProtect solution to help safeguard business IT infrastructure and sensitive data without the need for conventional IT expert requirements.
Besides the point of lowering the barrier to having robust and smart cybersecurity-focused equipment, ActiveProtect is also created to be scalable so that organizations of all sizes can handle these challenges directly in a fast-changing digital environment.
To start, the solution streamlines organization-wide data protection policies, tasks, and appliances into a unified management and control system by covering many aspects of endpoints, servers, hypervisors, storage systems, and databases. Organizations utilizing Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace will have no problem integrating ActiveProtect since Synology has done the compatibility bridge for its customers.
One of the most valuable features has to be immutable backups that create unremovable shadow copies for absolute guarantee rollback as well as air gapping policies. Each ActiveProtect appliance can function in standalone or cluster-managed modes in addition to being tiered via Synology NAS/SAN storage solutions, C2 Object Storage, and other ActiveProtect appliances within the cluster. Need to expand? Any existing clusters and systems will be easily picked up by the software layer.
The purpose-built ActiveProtect appliances utilize incremental backups with source-side, global, and cross-site deduplication to ensure fast backups and replication with minimal bandwidth usage, capable of performing backups up to 7 times faster with a typical deduplication ratio of over 2:1, hence greatly reducing operating costs.
Availability
Synology ActiveProtect will be made available through official distributors and partners later in 2024 but you can learn more about it through this link.
