The EF16-35mm f/2.8L III USM combines two large-diameter double-surface
aspheric Glass Mold (GMo) lenses, one-ground aspheric lens, and two Ultra Low
Dispersion (UD) lenses to deliver outstanding
image quality from the centre to the edge of the frame. Distortion and
chromatic aberration – common in wide-angle lenses – is also greatly reduced,
enabling users to utilise the versatile EF16-35mm f/2.8L III USM to shoot a
wide range of subject matters including architecture, astrophotography, and wedding
photography.

With its SubWavelength Structure Coating (SWC) and Air Sphere Coating
(ASC), flaring and ghosting effects that commonly occurs around the periphery
of ultra wide-angle lens will be substantially suppressed, allowing users to
obtain maximum image quality. The nine-blade circular aperture also enables the
lens to easily achieve an even and attractive background bokeh effect.

Constructed with the high standards of an L-series lens, the EF16-35mm
f/2.8L III USM is equipped with an enhanced mechanical structure for better
vibrational and shock resistance quality. Built to help photographers withstand
challenging conditions, dust-proof and drip-proof structuring has been applied
to the key areas of the lens, such as the mount, the switch panel, zoom ring
and focus ring. With these in place, the sensitive internal components are
protected from the harsh external elements.

In addition, a special fluorine coating is applied to the foremost and
rearmost lens surfaces, to prevent oil and moisture from adhering to the
lenses, and can be simply wiped off with a dry cloth without requiring a
solvent.
