AliCloud cements strategic partnerships to support start-ups success and revolutionize information communications security
AliCloud validates its position as China’s premier cloud platform for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Singapore, October 15, 2015 -AliCloud, Alibaba Group’s (NYSE: BABA) cloud computing arm, today announced at The Computing Conference 2015 further developments in driving cloud innovation with its partnership to support start-ups and cloud solutions forsecure data communications through quantum cryptography. These announcements have further validated AliCloud as China’s premier cloud platform for innovation and entrepreneurship, with excellent performance quality, outstanding reliability and a comprehensive support ecosystem that facilitates transformative cloud-based technologies.
AliCloud and (Hon Hai’s) Foxconn Technology Group collaboration to support start-‐ups
AliCloud and Hon Hai’s Foxconn Technology Group announced today a collaboration to foster small, medium and micro enterprise (SMME) success. SMMEs will receive a headstart in commercializing innovative concepts through the Taofu Chengzhen ( 淘富成真 ) start-up incubator program, which is jointly managed by Foxconn and AliCloud. This program will see an
internet marketing platform for entrepreneurs where AliCloud will contribute cloud computing and big data support via AliCloud, while Foxconn will offer best practices in design, development patents, and supply chain management capabilities. AliCloud and Foxconn will also collaborate with Intel, Zhubajie.com & Valley Capital to create a unique infrastructure to drive innovation and growth of SMMEs.
The incubator program on trial for six months, has successfully supported more than 280 business projects, making ‘designed in YunQi’ a coveted term and turning YunQi town into the new frontier for innovation in the data technology era. A start-up thatbenefited from this incubator program is Silicon Valley’s Moov, a fitness wearable brand with a growing popularity in the US and Europe. Moov combines the use of hardware and software technology to equip its Moov Now wearable device with 3D motioncapture and real-time interaction through Artificial Intelligence software. The Silicon Valley brand encountered challenges with its technology improvements and mass productions. Through this program, Moov benefited from Foxconn recommendations on design along with its capabilities for rapid mass productions, while drawing on AliCloud’s global cloud computing capabilities allowed Moov to enter the China market easily.
Dr. Jian WANG, CTO, Alibaba Group, said, “Alibaba Group is helping enterprises and start-ups progress by making computing services more accessible. The Computing Conference brings aspiring start-ups and established industry players together to help us furthercreativity and innovation across the cloud industry. We’re not only seeing businesses going straight to AliCloud for their cloud needs, but also when they want to provide an outstanding customer experience. The new developments that will come about through discussions and partnerships begun at The Computing Conference 2015 will send ripples through the cloud computing world for years to come.”
Quantum cryptography debuts to enhance secure data communications
At The Computing Conference 2015, AliCloud and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) unveiled a public cloud solution for secure data communications through quantum cryptography that has put China on the map for quantum information technology. The announcement, made following a July 2015 partnership between the two organizations, makes the Internet safer with the revolutionization of information communications security. Quantum communications technology is currently the most secure encryption method known, and is immune to man-in-the-middle attacks (intercepted information), code-breakers, or other hackingtechniques. Small-scale trials have been successful to date, and AliCloud will conduct large-scale proofs-of-concept this year inpreparation for commercialization.
Jianwei PAN, Professor and Executive Vice President of University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and a CAS academician said, “The collaboration between AliCloud and CAS at the Quantum Computing Laboratory provided the perfect environment for creating a practical, reliable and completely secure quantum cryptography solution for communications. The speed at which we have completed our initial trials with the AliCloud Cloud Platform shows the advanced state of both cloud and quantum information technologies within China, and our future projects are likely to benefit from the same synergy. The Internet will never be the same again.”
These announcements have been made at The Computing Conference 2015, Alibaba Group’s largest-ever global cloud computinggathering, with nearly 20,000 developers and 3,000 technology start-ups in attendance this year. More than 200 marquee brandsfrom all over the world participated at The Computing Conference from 14 to 15 October 2015, including Intel, Docker, Mesosphere, Quixey, and Rovio, as well as AliCloud Marketplace Alliance Program partners Hong Kong’s PCCW, Singapore’s Singtel, and Dubai’s Meraas Holding. Over 20 major announcements were made during the annual networking platform for the global cloud computing industry, emphasizing the importance of The Computing Conference as a must-attend event for successful cloud players.
