SINGAPORE, May 29, 2015 – Intel Singapore today announced a collaboration with StarHub to offer the new Intel Compute Stick as a bundle with the telco’s 1Gbps Fibre Home Broadband service, and other select broadband or HomeHub subscription plans. StarHub is the first telco in the world to offer the Intel Compute Stick together with broadband subscriptions.
From May 29, 2015, customers who sign up to selected StarHub broadband plans at any StarHub Shop, authorised dealer or at StarHub roadshow will receive an Intel Compute Stick at no additional cost (usual price: S$229).
The Intel Compute Stick is a low-cost, pocket-sized computer that can transform any HDMI display into a fully functional PC capable of working with full productivity suites, playing music and movies, and even running some of the most popular games. The device also offers unique benefits to businesses, such as driving digital signage or enabling thin clients with ease.
Based on a quad-core Intel® Atom™ processor running Windows 8.1 with Bing, the Intel Compute Stick has the right blend of performance, cost, and size to usher in a new computing paradigm, whether the user is in the living room or the conference room. With 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, the Intel Compute Stick has the power to stream media and edit photos, yet remains small enough to add intelligence to a wide range of external displays.
It supports WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, and comes with a micro SD card slot for expandable memory, micro USB power supply port and Bluetooth 4.0 for keyboard and mouse. Its innovative form factor also includes a full-sized USB 2.0 port, which allows the Intel Compute Stick to further connect to a variety of peripherals, including external hard drives, printers, and more.
“More and more Singapore households are connecting to the Nationwide Broadband Network, leading to higher expectations in home entertainment and productivity,” said Ms Wang Li-Na, Head of Marketing, StarHub. “StarHub’s collaboration with Intel to provide the Compute Stick will open up a whole new world of entertainment for our customers, enabling them to take full advantage of StarHub’s reliable broadband and TV experiences.”
Mr Sumner Lemon, country manager for Intel Singapore and Malaysia, said, “A new generation of connected consumers and businesses are demanding technology that works on their terms. Together with StarHub’s broadband services, the Intel Compute Stick promises to transform how users work and play, maximizing their mobility potential, making new connected experiences possible, and setting a new standard for stick computing devices.”
