After much rumours and a previous leak that Samsung GALAXY S5 will be launched in March, editor Eldar Murtazin, from a renowned Russian website, revealed that Samsung will launch S5 on 23 February this year, a day before MWC2014. Sales will begin in April.
Previously, an Italian reporter had disclosed the launch of Samsung GALAXY S5 will be in mid March in London. However, Murtazin report that the launch will in fact be on 23 February at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. He also inform that the selling price of the phone will be consistent with the past, and claimed that Samsung’s TouchWiz User Interface (UI) will receive a new name.
Based on past leaks, the Samsung GALAXY S5 will have a 5.25″ 2560 x 1440 resolution touch display and 16 Megapixel camera. It will be available with two kinds of processors: Exynos 6 series or the LTE version with Qualcomm Snapdragon 805.
The S5 will be equipped with Android 4.4, 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of storage space. It is rumoured to be geared with fingerprint recognition technology and a new TouchWiz UI. According to Samsung’s Executive Vice President Lee Young Hee, Samsung GALAXY S5’s exterior will ‘return to nature’ and will focus on the touch screen and the surface feel of the device.
According to foreign news site SamMobile exclusive media disclosure, insider news reveals that the flagship phone will be launched in two versions: metal and plastic. The expected price of the phone with the metal body is up to € 800, while that with the plastic body is up to € 650. This seems to emulate Apple’s marketing strategy of launch iPhone in 5S and 5C.
