Google has announced its community beta testing park Search Labs is finally adding the generative AI sauce into Search in the latest announcement.
Accessible via an opt-in selection and testable on Chrome desktop and the latest Android and iOS Google app, the AI-powered overview of key information shown when you type in your query will now be much more informational, including multiple sources from different websites that consolidate into a single dashboard-like interface that answers your questions quickly and directly.
Similar to a lot of other LLMs, recommendations will more or less pop out as part of the response to ensure clear communication and additional learning to the user.
On the other hand, Translate also got a little better as well and the algorithm is now capable of recognizing the context of words that may carry different meanings which can help you get the correct translation (And not be embarrassed by your own little mishap).
Unfortunately, this feature is still within the “small scale testing” phase so fellow Singaporeans will still need to wait for a bit for the eventual global testing round.
