Eaton to Launch Breakthrough Lithium-Ion-Based UPS in Asia

SINGAPORE, June 22, 2017 – Power management
company Eaton today announced the launch of a breakthrough uninterruptible
power supply (UPS) system in Asia that features long-life lithium-ion (Li-ion)
batteries. Scheduled to be launched in the third quarter of 2017, the new Eaton
1500VA UPS is expected to have twice the battery life compared to that of a
standard UPS system. With this new technology, customers can expect a
significant reduction in the total cost of ownership of the power
infrastructure of their equipment.

differentiated solution to meet our customers’ needs, including a low-cost
solution for battery replacements for those who operate in remote offices,”

Li-ion batteries, in comparison to lead acid batteries, are less sensitive
to high temperature and thus can be utilized in industrial and public
transportation facilities where ambient temperatures can be high. Together with
a reduced footprint, users can expect better utilization of floor space.

Other benefits of the Eaton 1500VA UPS include:

Longer replacement cycle and lower weight in comparison to the traditional
lead-acid batteries

The Li-ion batteries have a lifespan of up to eight years, compared to
lead-acid batteries’ three to four years

The new Eaton 1U model can recharge from 0-90 percent of capacity in about
4 hours compared to the 48 hours for those operating on lead-acid batteries
