Asia Pacific, 31 March 2014 – Sony today announced its new Full HD 3D home cinema projector, the VPL-HW40ES, which brings a true home cinema experience to a wider audience. From action-packed thrillers to dramas and absorbing documentaries, the VPL-HW40ES brings movies and TV shows to life in 2D or 3D with fabulous colours, detail and contrast.
‘Come home to better looking movies’
The VPL-HW40ES home cinema projector has been introduced to expand Sony’s home cinema range. It will sit alongside the VPL-HW55ES, Sony’s industry-acclaimed and multiple-award winning projector.
The VPL-HW40ES delivers the high quality, immersive images of a big screen cinema experience into the home, using the same SXRD panel technology featured in Sony’s top-flight digital cinema projectors, but at a fraction of the price.
“We’ve packed the VPL-HW40ES with our latest technologies for an incredibly sharp and crystal-clear cinematic experience, both in 2D and 3D. Contrast Enhancer, Motionflow technology, and Reality Creation are all designed to enable the VPL-HW40ES to deliver a brilliant Home Cinema experience for the discerning cinephile,” said Mr. Daisuke Nagatomi, Assistant General Manager of Visual Presentation Solutions, Professional Solutions Company (PSAP), Sony Electronics Asia Pacific.
Take a new look at reality
Developed for Sony’s leading 4K home cinema projectors, Reality Creation reproduces colours and textures that get lost when movies are packaged to disc, to see extreme clarity in every pixel. Users will see the difference with crisper, sharper pictures that bring viewers closer to the original master.
The upgraded optical engine of the VPL-HW40ES home cinema projector features powerful 1,700 lumens colour brightness for clearer, high-impact images, even when watching in well-lit rooms. Additional features such as Sony’s Bright Cinema and Bright TV preset modes enhance the 3D images even further for an optimal viewing experience even in a well-lit room.
The ultimate picture quality
Contrast Enhancer analyses scenes in real time, continuously optimising dynamic range in each area of the image for rich, deep blacks and sparkling highlights. Sport and action scenes also benefit from Motionflow technology, which inserts extra images between the original frames, resulting in smoother, sharper and more fluid on-screen motion with less blur.
Sony understands the needs of home cinema users, and designed the VPL-HW40ES with them in mind. With an extra-wide lens shift range, the VPL-HW40ES offers more options for positioning the projector from a ceiling mount or off-centre horizontally, so that users will always get beautifully proportioned pictures. The VPL-HW40ES has a built-in 3D IR transmitter, automatically recognises 2D or 3D content, and offers a choice of picture modes to suit the content being viewed. Noise-shaping ensures that fan sounds are at frequencies that viewers are less aware of. Suppressed to a mere 21dB for whisper-quiet operation, viewers can concentrate on their movies or games without unnecessary distractions.
The VPL-HW40ES will be available in black and white colours in Asia Pacific from April 2014. For more information, please visit http://pro.sony-asia.com/projector.
