Sony Singapore, together with other SEA regions, has announced they will be bringing in the latest WH-1000XM6 model to raise the bar of the well-loved 1000X series once again.
Rocking the new QN3 processor sporting 7x the performance of the last one, it now hosts 12 microphones (up from 8 on the XM5s) for even tighter and spot-on noise cancelling for the busy environments. There’s also the Adaptive NC Optimizer that factors in air pressure as well which will be useful for frequent flyers.
The driver unit has been redesigned with carbon fiber composite domes and a custom voice coil to deliver even better sound and noise-cancelling as well, and if you want the best of both worlds, it has Auto Ambient Sound mode for pulling in surroundings for awareness, tweakable via the Sony app.
Users can still enjoy the “gold sticker” High-Res Audio certification, LDAC, and real-time upscaling via DSEE Extreme in addition to gaming EQ and 360 Reality Audio for movies. Call quality is now better with a 6-mic beamforming tech and AI that isolates your voice for clear inputs, and the classic dedicated Mute button is there too.
Let’s get even more comfy with the new softer, wider headband made of vegan leather, stretchable earpads, and an intuitive layout with both buttons and touch controls. Its case now closes with magnets for a little QoL update.
Additionally, the Scene-based Listening actually tracks where you are and what you’re doing to apply a setting that is the best for the current music, and the headphone can do LE Audio for lower latency in gaming, as well as Multi-Point and Auto Switch for seamless device hopping.
Battery life is solid, and if you’re low on juice, a 3-minute charge gets you 3 hours of playtime.
Price and Availability
At SG$649, the WH-1000XM6 will be dropping early June, but preorders are now open, and you can get some value out of unused items by doing the following:
