Samsung has just announced their latest 1TB mSATA SSD for the Japanese market. Using the same controller and flash chips as the 840EVO SATA version, the 840EVO mSATA should also perform similarly to the 2.5 inch variant. The 840 EVO mSATA (MZ-MTE1T0B/1T) SSD is said to be released on the 24th of January and the tentative price is about 68,800 Japanese yen. Translated into Singapore dollars, it will be about 860SGD.
The 120GB/250GB model of the series was released last week and already available over the counters. The 500GB version was delayed, but it is too already available.
It seems that those who wants to have a large capacity mSATA SSD should wait patiently for the 840EVO’s 1TB arrival. We are still unsure if local distributors will be going to bring in this SSD. Even if they do, it will be in low quantities.
