When Microsoft announced their new Xbox One console at E3, they also told reporters that the new console will be initially launched in 21 countries when it goes on sale in November. However, in addition to the setbacks after poor feedback to their decisions made on Xbox One like Steam-styled DRM and a permanently attached Kinect, plans to launch the new console in these countries in November is being walked back. (They also announced that Xbox One will now not require Kinect)
Xbox One will now launch in just 13 markets. Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Spain, United Kingdom, United States, and New Zealand will all receive the console in November.
On the other hand, previous announced countries that were in the November list which includes Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and Switzerland can only wait for the latest Xbox One as release has been pushed back to 2014. Microsoft cited that they require extra work localizing the software, partnering with local companies to create apps, and supporting additional voices and languages as the reasons for the delay.
As a small consolation, anyone in one of these delayed countries who has placed a pre-order for the console will be given a game when the device eventually ships.
