LG Display released a press announcement stating on their success of their R&D on the display. The panel is 5.5 inch in size and has a whopping 538ppi density. That makes it the highest resolution and ppi for a smartphone panel.
In addition to its quality and performance, the display panel also stands out in its thinness. It is only measured at 1.21 mm thin. Comparing to the current LG G2 which uses a 5.2inch panel, the new 5.5 inch will be thinner by 12% and also, its frame will be narrower.
On the other hand, the panel is equipped with a LTPS foundation (Low Temperature Poly-Silicon) which can provide a maximum of 450nits in terms of brightness. It can also improvement transmission rate.
Display research also predicts that more than 7.65 million units of smartphones using LTPS panels will be in the world by 2014.
