Not long ago, Google acquired a social traffic reporting platform called Waze. They realised the potential of the application and decided that the technology should be integrated into their maps platform. That was what they did. Google has began to integrate some of the Waze features into Google Maps.
Yesterday, Google announched that Google Maps integrate Waze features by allowing reporting features on Google Maps. For example, if there are reports of traffic accidents, road closures or construction works, a display notification will show up on Google Maps, telling users to avoid the traffic condition.
This feature will also be on Google Maps application found on Android and iOS. Currently, the features is only supported in Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Switzerland, UK and US.
Also, the Waze application will also get many functions made possible by the suite of data products from Google. The application is now integrated with Google Search, allowing users to have more relevant and accurate search results.
