It is a well-known fact that Google will release a revamped Nexus 7, and that ASUS is once again the manufacturer of the said tablet. Leaks and reports over the past couple of weeks suggest that the new Nexus 7 will come equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset, thereby ditching Nvidia’s Tegra SoC (the original Nexus 7 packs the quad-core Tegra 3 chipset). Additionally, the display resolution may or may not get a bump up (to qualify for the retina moniker), but in all likelihood should remain the same 1280 by 800 display.
The refreshed Nexus 7 (dubbed ASUS K009 according to their website) will reportedly pack a 5 MP rear camera, 1.2 MP front camera, 3950 mAh battery and launch with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (expect the tablet to launch the same day that Google reveals Android 4.3). The rumored price for the 16 GB model will be $229, only $30 higher than the current Nexus 7 with the same storage capacity.
