According to the latest news from Intel, the new Z87 platform will continue to have a base centralized clock of 100MHz. However, unlike previous platforms, Haswell has a has a CPU strap of 1.25x and 1.66x to its base clock like those found in the higher end X79 chipset. This has undoubtedly pleased a lot of overclocking enthusiasts.
Additionally, the news from Intel also indicated that Haswell can be increased up to 80x, and 60x on GPU. Natively, RAM speeds can reach up to 2666MHz.
Although these features can bring fun to the hardware technology enthusiasts, motherboard manufacturers seemed to be having a huge headache. It has been years since they require a change to the core configuration of their BIOS.
Anyway, PC DIY players are happy, and that will probably drive the market to some degree. Let us wait to the announcement probably at Computex in June.
