On 1st January 2013, users on iOS6 realised that their phones failed to come out of “Do Not Disturb” mode even after their stated time. This was later confirmed by Apple that it was a bug found in iOS6. Our previous article covered on this issue. http://www.thetechrevolutionist.com/2013/01/ios-do-not-disturb-mode-fails-to.html
However, in response to the bug, Apple released an official statement on their support site, stating that they will not release a bug fix as “Do Not Disturb scheduling feature will resume normal functionality after January 7, 2013. Before this date, you should manually turn the Do Not Disturb feature on or off.”
Speaking from a more serious point of view, it’s irresponsible of Apple not to release an update for a fix of the bug. It undermines the reliability of Apple providing bug free software to their consumers. They admit the problem within the OS, but are not doing anything to explain to their users what is happening. It’s like a case of buying a faulty device, disappointing users because it does not work as it is supposed to. Last year, it was the problem of their alarm clock. Then later, we have Apple Map’s fail. Now what? What’s next? Let’s hope Apple will give an official statement explaining the bug and reassuring users that such bugs will not happen again. Currently, they are not doing anything, and that is what disappoints me.
