BIOSTAR has just rolled out its AI-NONXS Developer Kit, a powerful edge AI platform designed for developers and system integrators looking to build and deploy AI-driven solutions at the edge.
Supporting NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX and Orin Nano modules, this compact industrial-grade kit is aimed squarely at enabling next-gen AI capabilities in sectors like smart manufacturing, retail, transportation, cities, and agriculture.
The AI-NONXS isn’t just another edge box as it’s purpose-built with a wide range of industrial-grade I/O options including 4 USB 3.2 Gen2 ports, dual Gigabit Ethernet (including a 2.5GbE with PoE option), RS232/422/485, CANBUS, audio I/O, and TPM support. With HDMI (2.1 or 1.4, depending on module), dual MIPI CSI connectors, and three M.2 expansion slots, the platform offers serious flexibility for vision-based and sensor-heavy workloads.
It’s also rated to handle temperatures from –20°C to 60°C and supports 12V–20V DC input, making it suitable for tough environments.
The software stack is just as robust. With full Linux support and NVIDIA JetPack 6.2, including the Super Mode performance profile, the platform delivers substantial inference performance boosts across a wide range of modern workloads, from LLMs and SLMs to ViTs and Stable Diffusion. According to BIOSTAR, Vision Transformer models run up to 2X faster, while Vision-Language Models can see a 2.5X speed increase when Super Mode is enabled, making it ideal for real-time perception and decision-making.
In the real world, that translates to everything from smarter in-store analytics and predictive maintenance to autonomous tractors and robotic pollinators, practically just being the center brain of smart industrial devices.
