Seagate has officially introduced yet another new series of HDD lineups which they called it the Exos M series which carries breakthrough technologies leading to higher storage capacity than ever.
The brand is utilizing the Mozaic 3+ platform and Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) technology to elevate areal density of the platter drives within said HDDs to allow up to 32TB at the current moment in terms of available options for business and industrial applications. They are currently sampling 36TB drives though so definitely keep an eye on that one.
It is said at the time of writing, Seagate is the one and only organization capable of producing 3.6TB per platter drives at scale with the potential of scaling it up to 10TB for an even more cost-efficient storage solution which can be attractive for data centers and cloud storage providers.
Industry leaders have already utilized Mozaic 3+ncluding Dell Technologies offer large storage to meet the needs of AI factories running the most demanding AI workloads. It is expected that not all AI-related sectors have the funding to access full flash-based storage solutions which in turn emphasized on the cost-effectiveness of HDDs with extremely huge capacities.
