Seagate Technology has officially launched its massive 30TB Exos M and IronWolf Pro hard drives globally, targeting the surging demand for high-capacity storage fueled by AI deployments.
Built on Seagate’s Mozaic3+ platform and leveraging heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) technology, these drives aim to deliver both scalability and performance as AI reshapes data infrastructure worldwide. The company also marked a milestone by surpassing one million Mozaic hard drives shipped in the meantime.
The launch comes as HPE forecasts the on-prem AI market to surge 90% annually to hit $42 billion in three years, and NVIDIA describes AI factories as the next-gen data centers designed to manufacture intelligence at scale. Edge AI is already gaining traction in industries like retail, manufacturing, and financial services, driving the adoption of disaggregated storage architectures that separate compute from storage for better scalability.
Yet there are mild differences between the 2 series, as the Exos M lineup is built for hyperscale environments, offering energy-efficient storage that supports real-time edge analytics without sacrificing performance, while the IronWolf Pro family targets NAS systems that are evolving into intelligent data hubs for workloads like video analytics, image recognition, RAG, and local inferencing.
