Micron unveiled the latest and the most compact UFS 4.0 mobile storage solution ever just last week.
Reading just the title would have forgo so many details as it is not only cutting down in size while maintaining the standard capacities of 256GB/512GB/1TB because this new iteration doubles the transmission speed now reaching up to 4300MBps read and 4000MBps writes which will allow all the apps to launch faster, files to stream quicker, and overall less lag in day to day usage.
Speaking from the power perspective, it is 25% more efficient so less power consumption leading to extended battery life. There’s also an indirect benefit coming from the “real estate” reduction of the flash chip because the entire smartphone will have more internal space as a result. What do brands do when there’s more space? Cram has more battery capacity than it is.
Micron also emphasized that the generational leap-like upgrade will enable all sorts of on-device AI interaction and operation to run quicker and snappier. more alongside built-in features like High-Performance Mode and Zoned UFS further optimize performance and lifespan.
