iPhone users with a Windows laptop. Your cries have been heard. Phone Link w/ iOS is not a joke anymore.
It is common knowledge that a closed ecosystem like Apple has a very streamlined experience and process when it comes to interconnectivity between its own products. But still, there are still plenty of people that use devices belonging to different sides of the market, for example, an Apple iPad tablet to go with an Android smartphone.
In this context, it is the PC section with Windows 11’s Phone Link feature that essentially lets you use the “almost full” capabilities of an Android device except for running Android apps off it. The expansion today finally covers iOS support that allows one to connect an iOS mobile device to keep yourself connected through calls, messages, and contacts while you work on a Windows-based machine.
Of course, you can’t compare the authentic package of a MacOS – iOS link for seamless file transfer, synchronization, and all those fancy features that keep your call going wherever you go but, at least Microsoft isn’t half-ass-ing this integration as you may also access your photos with iCloud support through the Photos app in Windows 11.
Availability
The function is rolling out across the globe over the next few weeks so you could be the lucky one to enjoy it earlier. Just search Phone Link in the Windows Search box to hit it up and utilize it.
Just a side note – Microsoft did confirm that supported iOS devices must run iOS 14.0 or higher and does not support iPadOS and macOS-equipped machines so bear in mind.
