Even though the 802.11ax standard has yet to be ratified by IEEE, ASUS jumped the gun and just introduced the latest ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 Wireless Router for the market. The ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 is one of the world first wireless router that utilizes the 802.11ax wireless standard, and will be able to reach wireless throughput in excess of 10Gbps.
In fact, the ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 Wireless router is dubbed the world’s first 10Gbps Wi-Fi router. With the new methods and technologies laid out in the IEEE 802.11ax standard such as Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) support, multiple wireless devices will be able to send and receive packets within the same wireless channel which increases the network efficiency and reduces latency. Such new implementations increase the throughput of new 802.11ax routers significantly. Particularly, the ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 can deliver 2.53X higher data rates than any of the current day’s 4×4 802.11ac routers.
The ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 is equipped with a 2.5Gbps Multi-Gigabit Ethernet port. This is based on IEEE 802.3bz standard, which accepts 2.5Gb and 5Gb Ethernet connections over Cat 5E and higher cables. This implementation of the Multi-Gigabit Ethernet port will work very well for high end motherboards and systems that has 5Gigabit or 10Gigabit LAN cards, as the network throughput between the interface will be increased significantly.
This new router also features a dedicated physical Game Boost button that allows for the toggling of the Game Boost mode. This mode will prioritize gaming traffic on the network for even better gaming performance without the need for users to change the router’s settings on the administrative web interface. This button will also enable Dynamic Frequent Selection (DFS) which automatically selects the least congested wireless channel. Moreover, ASUS has also included the Gamers Private Network (GPN) on this new router. This enables the router to route packets through a dedicated and AI-defined intermediate networks, thus allowing the best possible online gaming experience with the lowest ping times and latency.
