When Logitech first announced their Powerplay Wireless Charging System for their wireless gaming mice, many enthusiasts and gamers discussed the possibilities of having Qi Wireless Charging built right into a gaming mousepad. Corsair scored first when they released their MM1000 mouse pad. ROG also followed suit and released the first ever RGB mouse pad that supports wireless Qi charging.
At the “For Those Who Date” Press Event held in Taipei today, ASUS ROG showcased their latest ROG Balteus Qi RGB Gaming mouse pad. The ROG Balteus Qi is the world’s first RGB mouse pad that also supports wireless charging. This is a portrait-oriented surface (370 x 320mm) that offers ample space for simultaneous charging and gaming. It will also function very well as a mouse pad itself, as it is created with a micro-textured hard surface that enables pixel precise mouse tracking.
The contact point for wireless charging is placed at the top right corner of the mouse pad. Even if a phone is placed for wireless charging there, the gamer will not feel space constrained. The portrait ratio provides space for the user to place the smartphone on the pad without obstructing the mouse.
The Balteus Qi sets itself apart from any other competing products with RGB LED laden design. This mouse pad features 15 individually customization lighting zones that can be personalized with the ASUS Aura software. Of course, this mouse pad will also work with ASUS Aura Sync as well. The mouse pad also has a on-pad lighting mode button for on-the-fly adjustments.
Since wireless charging is built right in the mouse pad, there is a need to connect a power source to it. If you connect the mouse pad directly to your PC, the Balteus Qi’s own single USB 2.0 port can also support USB passthrough for easy data transfer.
The ROG Balteus, which is the Balteus Qi without wireless charging capabilities, will also be available for gamers.
