This morning the Mixer team announced the availability of its redesigned mobile app, which Mixer fans can now try out in beta on Android and iOS devices. Designed entirely based on fan feedback, the new app includes significant enhancements around the core user experience, including:
- It’s easier for users to find broadcasts that interest them. A redesigned “trending” section spotlights featured broadcasts, top games and trending streams. Games now have accompanying “hubs” that aggregate all related broadcasts, and an improved filtering tool means users can specify interactive streams, co-streams, or streams using Mixer’s Faster Than Light (FTL) low-latency streaming protocol.
- Improved performance. From FTL playback to app navigation, everything in the app is faster and more reliable.
- More personalisation. A new “Following” section makes it easy to see what’s happening with a user’s favorite broadcasters, and recommends new streamers to check out. The Profile section now includes setting management and channel information.
This new app is just the latest in Mixer’s continued investment in mobile – last month it brought real-time streaming to mobile by expanding FTL to include mobile streams, and the month prior it rolled its mobile app specifically designed for creators, Mixer Create, into general availability.
