Synology® Announces the Official Release of Presto File Server

TAIPEI,
Taiwan—June 15, 2017—Synology® Inc. today
announced the official release of Presto File Server, a new application
for Synology NAS that speeds up and significantly shortens the time required
for transferring massive data over WAN, while also simplifying the steps
for deployment and IT management.

Based
on the network-attached storage provider’s exclusive Synology Internet Transfer
Accelerator (SITA) technology, Presto File Server
effectively overcomes the common problems involving high-latency
and unstable connections when transferring files over long-distances via
other protocols like FTP, and significantly accelerates transfer speeds when
delivering massive data to distant destinations.

commonly used file transfer methods can no longer suffice the growing
needs for long-distance collaboration and mass data transfer across
the globe,” said Jia-Yu Liu, Senior Manager of Cloud & Backup
Division at Synology Inc. “Presto File Server solves file transfer
problems from two dimensions: first, our SITA technology overcomes the
common transmission performance issues that occurred when files were
transferred over long distances; and second, the intuitive user interface
enables users to quickly become familiar with the package features.”

Key
features of Presto File Server include:

Highly-secured file transfer: AES encryption is
supported on Presto desktop client. Login credentials are secured in a
dedicated TLS/TCP encrypted channel, with a 2-step verification adding an
extra layer of protection to the credentials.

Reports generated according to schedules: Administrators can
easily export daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports on Presto File Server
and send them to designated email addresses according to set schedules.

·
Intuitive user interface: Presto desktop
client enables users to safely exchange data on major platforms such as
Mac, Windows, and Linux.
