Canon unveils the versatile EF70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM zoom lens

SINGAPORE, 15 September 2016 – Canon today announced the EF70-300mm
f/4-5.6 IS II USM, an upgrade to the popular EF70-300 mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM,
which now incorporates the Nano USM technology for a swift and silent AF. The EF70-300mm
f/4-5.6 IS II USM is able to easily adapt to a range of challenging
environments with the reduced minimal focal distance of 1.2m.

The EF70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM have two key
features which brings about significant improvement to its performance – the
Nano USM technology and the Lens Information Display. The Nano USM is a
superior lens motor system that combines the best of ring USM and STM features
into a motor that is fast, quiet and smooth. With Nano USM, users will enjoy
high -speed, high precision autofocusing when capturing stills, and video
capture will be smoother with minimal noise.

The Lens Information Display is a handy feature
which presents a variety of useful information to the users. A mode switch
button toggles between displaying the distance to a target and the lens’
current focal length. In addition, it can also display the amount of vertical
and horizontal vibrations as an indication for users to reduce them
accordingly. With relevant information like this which can be easily viewed on
the display, users will be better-informed to take better quality images.

The versatility of the EF70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II
USM has been significantly enhanced with the minimum focusing distance reduced
from 1.5m to 1.2m. As a result, users are now able to get closer to their
subjects for more close-up shots. The clarity of long distance shots has also
improved, due to the better IS performance. With an IS performance equivalent
to approximately 4 shuttle speed stops, up from the previous 2.5 stops, the
EF70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM is able to ensure sharpness of images when
shooting at a longer focal length.

The inclusion of an Ultra-low Dispersion (UD)
lens corrects chromatic aberration and minimises colour blurring, such that
high resolution and contrast can be achieved. When shooting in bright
environments, ghosting and flare will also be reduced due to Super Spectrum Coating
on the EF70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM. In addition, users can achieve beautiful
background bokeh effects with the EF70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM as it is equipped
with a 9-blade aperture.
