ACM ICPC is the world’s most prestigious programming competition. At the world finals, the contestants from various universities will solve a series of real-world problems posted by the organizers within a grueling five-hour deadline. Their problem solving, programming skills and teamwork will be put to the test. Competing between the best of the best in the world, we are sure to see some heated battle on Thursday.
IBM is the sole sponsor for ACM ICPC since 1997. With the continuous support from IBM, ICPC has grown throughout the years and participation has increased more than 1600%. Other than competing in the World Finals, the students will get first hand knowledge of technologies from IBM. Through various speaker sessions and interactive and on-site demos, the students will also learn about the tools available from IBM in their development work. These technology include IBM’s Bluemix cloud platform and IBM Watson cognitive business platform. The participants will also have the opportunity to interact with professionals from IBM to learn about the profession.
“IBM’s goal as lead sponsor is to celebrate the world’s best computing students, expose them to key technology trends such as cloud and cognitive intelligence, and get them excited about pursuing a career in programming,” said Gerald Lane, ACM-ICPC sponsorship executive and director, IBM Open Technologies & IP.
