OPPO Singapore launches the hip Mirror 5s and the value-for-money Neo 5s

OPPO fans can look forward to two new editions to the OPPO family with the launch of the OPPO Mirror 5s and Neo 5s this August. Both smartphones continue to deliver the brand’s promise of superior product design, attention to detail and exceptional user experience all at a remarkable price.

OPPO Mirror 5s: Bring Out The Bling

The Mirror 5s: Unique finishing but more than just a pretty face.

Designed for the bold and the stylish, the OPPO Mirror 5s sports a unique mirror-like back. This reflective surface comprises individually cut and embossed glass sections that reflect light in different directions – creating a diamond-like bling like no other.

This 7.65mm-thin, 160g light smartphone with a 1,280 x 720 5-inch screen is powered by a Quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB RAM and has 16GB of internal flash storage, expandable to another 128GB with a Micro SD card. It has dual 4G SIM-card slots and offers innovative photography modes via its 8-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera.

The Mirror 5s in white will be available at all Singtel and M1 stores, and select retail outlets from August 29 at $369.

Great for users who want to save money from exorbitant data roaming costs while staying contactable for voice calls on their regular line while travelling, the phone comes with one 4G and one 2G SIMs which can be activated simultaneously. The phone features two card slots, one for a Micro-SIM and the other, a Nano-SIM.

Beneath its shimmering surface lies a sturdy chassis reinforced with a bi-metallic frame with cross beams for added strength and durability.

Fun for shutterbugs

The 8-megapixel rear camera lets users take great shots while its photo-sensitive f/2.2 aperture lens helps make low-light shots a breeze. When combined with the built-in Beauty 3.0 filters, the 5-megapixel front camera lets users create stunning selfies automatically without the need for manual edits.

Ultra HD In Ultra HD photo mode, the camera automatically takes six snaps and combines them into a single 24-megapixel high-resolution photo that will look just as sharp in print as they would on the phone’s screen.

Create your own stop-motion animation with the GIF mode that works best with continuous actions such as someone waving their hands or jumping.

Smart Remote Control

Control appliances from your phone. The OPPO Mirror 5s comes with a remote control feature that is compatible with many common household appliances. A special concave infra-red lens enhances the range while the database of compatible appliances is updated regularly.

Smart gestures and management with ColorOS2.1 Interface

OPPO’s ColorOS2.1 user interface (UI) comes packed with plenty of smarts. When the screen is idle for more than 10 minutes, all idle apps are immediately closed to reduce memory clutter and save battery life. The good news is that users can easily white-list their favourite apps to be excluded from this automatic ‘Smart Clearance” feature.

While the screen is turned off, user can get into the action instantly with smart gestures. Draw an O on the screen to activate the camera, double tap on the screen to turn it on and design their own custom gestures such as swiping up to call your best friend or spouse.

While the screen is active, users will still be able to do cool features with just a touch of their fingers. Swipe from the bottom left or bottom right of the screen towards the centre to create a smaller screen for one-handed operation. Slide two fingers up, or down, to increase and decrease the volume correspondingly while swiping up and down the screen with three fingers takes a screenshot.

One of the best features of the ColorOS2.1 is the “Length Screen Capture”, which lets users take multiple screenshots of a long article or a long conversation thread. The multiple screenshots are then automatically combined into a single screen capture. To do this, simply hit the power and volume up key at the same time.

OPPO Neo 5s: Affordable, Feature-Packed, Dual-SIM, 4G phone

Designed for the budget-conscious who want to get more out of their phone, the Neo 5s is a dual-SIM 4G phone that won’t break bank.

The Neo 5s shares many of the goodness of its Mirror 5s cousin. It has the same sturdy bi-metallic frame with cross beams for strength, a very capable 8-megapixel rear camera, expandable memory, smart gestures through the ColorOS2.1 interface and more.

It also has dual SIM-card slots supporting 4G, so friends and family can still make calls to the user’s Singapore number even when the user is abroad. At the same time, users can also use a local SIM card at their destination to save on data roaming charges.
