Previous ThinkPad W series mobile workstations only come with a Full-HD resolution of 1920 x 1080. The display will be updated to 2880 x 1620. It continues to be an IPS panel. The new notebook will feature a new Haswell processor, as well as a Nvidia Quadro GPU.
Similar to the previous W530, ThinkPad W540 has passed ISV tests and certification.
In terms of physical appearance, there are some significant changes as compared to the W530. The keyboard is now included with a number pad and the size of the touch pad also increased.
In addition to USB 3.0 ports, Thunderbolt port is also included and 4G LTE connectivity is also possible. The new W530 ThinkPad weighs about 2.5kg ad has a thickness of 27mm.
On the other hand, Lenovo also has a 14 inch and 15 inch variant of their ThinkPad lineup, namely T440P and T550P. They both come with a Nvidia GeForce GT730M Discrete GPU. With a special additional external battery pack, these systems can achieve up to 13 hours of battery life.
Similar to the W540, T440P/T550P will have an Core i7 option, but it only supports a maximum memory capacity of 16GB. ThinkPad W540 supports up to 32GB.
These new notebooks are said to be shipped later in November.
