Roppongi Hills in Japan is transformed into a Hatsune Miku outdoor concert venue for 5 days

To celebrate the release of the limited edition Hatsune Miku Xperia smartphone “Xperia feat. HATSUNE MIKU SO-04E” from NTT docomo, Metro Hat (one of the buildings at Roppongi Hills in Tokyo) has been temporarily transformed into a Hatsune Miku outdoor concert venue.

“HATSUNE MIKU AR STAGE” will take place only from July 16 to July 21, from 19:30 to 23:00 every evening for the six days.

Akihabara News were invited to a press event on launch day but fans of Hatsune Miku have already swarmed to the event venue. To their surprise, many attendees who looked like regular employees started to take off their business shirts to reveal their Hatsune Miku fan T-shirts! Apparently, Hatsune Miku attracts people of a vast demographics.

According to NTT docomo staff, “HATSUNE MIKU AR STAGE” is the biggest outdoor AR event in Japan. Here’s how it works. If you have an Android device with a dedicated AR application installed, hold it over the exterior wall of Metro Hat. Hatsune Miku will appears from the inside and start dancing and singing to her special song, “Packaged”. The first 1,500 attendees can download the song for free.

Before making your way down to the event, make sure you have the dedicated AR application installed on your Android device. If you don’t have an Android device, you can borrow one at the venue.
