Ivy Bridge-E processors will have the same LGA2011 pin formation as Sandy Bridge-E and will match Intel’s X79 series chipset. As long as you have the latest BIOS update from their respective manufacturers, you can simply continue to use the motherboard and just replace the CPU.
Most people will be interested in the pricing of these chips. A six-core 3.6GHz 15MB Smart Cache Core i7-4960X will be priced at 990USD; six-core 3.4GHz 12MB Smart Cache Core i7-4930K at 555USD; four-core 3.7GHz 10MB Smart Cache Core i7-4820K at 310USD.
However, the SRP will vary to the market you are in.
It has been seen that other than the quad-core Core i7-4820K processor, the other higher end models have reduced in price as compared to their Sandy Bridge-E counterparts.
