ASUS FonePad runs on Android Jelly Bean and has a 1280 by 800 resolution display, similar to those found on Nexus 7. Sadly, FonePad does not come with a back-facing camera but instead a front facing 1.2 Megapixel camera for video calling. More interestingly, FonePad comes with an Intel single core Atom Z2420 CPU at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM and PowerVR SGX540 GPU. It is the first Intel Based x86 Android tablet for ASUS.
As we were saying from a previous FonePad rumour article, it seems like ASUS is really running out of ideas for their products. In pursuit for persistent perfection, they have decided to go heads on with Samsung’s Galaxy Note series of smartphone, and decided to try to win the race by having an EVEN larger screen size. However, we are most definitely certain that ASUS FonePad wouldn’t be a good idea as a phone, unless you pair it with a Bluetooth headset. To add on the confusion, ASUS decided to name it FonePad, to allow it to gain some attention as a little sibling of the all-star ASUS PadFone lineup of products.
