According to a study from Onswipe, 98.1% of all tablet internet traffic belongs to the iPad.
This not only showed the monopoly of iPad in the internet tablet market, but the huge margins allowed us to ponder further. The chart has even showed how insignificant Android tablets are when it comes to internet browsing. Is internet browsing experience on Android really that bad compared to iOS?
The study also claimed that iPad users spend 56.9% more time browsing the internet than on the iPhone. It is possible that the larger screens on tablet PCs make it easier for users to browse the internet. However, iPad took up 54.5% of all mobile devices internet traffic (including mobile phones) while iPhone stays at 19.05%. These numbers are quite shocking as internet usage on a specific tablet is not directly proportionate to numbers of the specific tablet being sold. Could this really mean that Android tablets are not suitable for browsing?
Although the results may seem extreme, there could really be an underlying reason in the huge gaps. User research into iPad users may give a better answer to these numbers.
