I am indeed privileged to get my hands on the highly anticipated Asus Republic of Gamers Crosshair IV Extreme Motherboard. Remember the first looks we had on the Crosshair IV Extreme Motherboard months ago? It’s finally here.
Crosshair IV Extreme is the first of its kind, bringing the much disputed Lucid Hydra chip on a AMD platform, namely the 890fx which is the best chipset with AMD’s offering. Second to MSI who first brought Lucid Hydra Technology to the 870 chipset(which makes no sense with only 2 PCI-E slots), Asus plans to change the mindset of people on the Lucid Hydra chip, alongside with HydraLogix technology.
“A motherboard capable of breaking world records on a AMD Platform”. I will definitely think it is possible with new and revised ROG features which will be covered in details in the review later after the embargo date.
Back in Cebit2010 when Crosshair IV Extreme was first being shown to the world, it only had 4 physical PCI-E x16 slots. After much design and innovation in addition with ingenious engineering, they have added an addtional physical PCI-E slots, beefed it up with a Lucid Hydra chip, changed the design of the NB/SB heatsink and added an extra uber cool ROG branding logo with actually lights up red on the NB/VRM heatsink!

Together with new Hydralogix drivers released on the 7th September, just 2 weeks before the embargo date, consumers will certainly get that few extra frames per second on the system. As well as newly released Catalyst driver from ATI, I’m sure you’ll want to know the benchmark results on the Asus ROG Crosshair IV Extreme motherboard as soon as possible. However, these drivers are not limited to only this motherboard, but all the systems out there with ATI/AMD Graphics card and Hydralogix technology.
So what’s really the big WooHa with Crosshair IV Extreme? You’ll have to wait until 20th September then, when I’ll release all the benchmarks and a detailed writeup on Crosshair IV Extreme, explaining all the new features that comes along with it.
To be continued…
