PICO has entered into a strategic collaboration with the Blender Foundation, marking the first time an XR platform has partnered with Blender to enhance 3D creation within virtual reality. The partnership aims to combine PICO’s expertise in XR hardware and software with Blender’s open-source 3D creation tools to deliver more immersive and efficient workflows for artists and developers.
The initiative will focus on three key areas: introducing innovative XR creation tools that move beyond traditional mouse and keyboard interfaces, improving creative productivity through streamlined processes, and driving the adoption of the OpenXR standard to ensure cross-platform compatibility.
Jessie Zhang, Head of Partnerships at PICO XR, highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting Blender’s global open-source community, saying this collaboration not only enhances 3D creation tools but also fosters a space where artists can bring unique immersive visions to life and reach a worldwide audience through OpenXR.
By working together, PICO and Blender aim to push the boundaries of spatial computing, empowering creators while accelerating the evolution of the 3D industry.
