It’s real. 3G only has one more year to live in Singapore as the death bell tolls for the name of the decade-old technology.
Released in a joint statement by M1 + Singtel + StarHub, they will shut off all 3G services starting July 31, 2024.
Since modern devices no longer rely on 3G and instead go for LTE and 5G, mobile operators are encouraged to repurpose all those freed-up spectrums for modern cellular connection instead.
Starting right now, all 3 brands will help 3G users to transition to 4G and 5G handsets if all they lack is a new device but there’s also SIM card upgrade service as well in case you’re one of the 0.01% holding onto one number for like 15 years.
