Last week, NVIDIA announced their new GTX 10 series graphics card for notebooks. They have attained the impossible by bringing full desktop graphics card to gaming notebooks, enabling desktop gaming performance on portable device. The MSI TITAN GT73 caught our eye. It is one of the two gaming laptops that was shown at the event which features a full fledged GTX 1080 graphics card. We will take a quick look at this monstrous machine.
The MSI GT73 is made to be a full desktop replacement machine. Unlike other laptops that still cared about portability and battery life, the GT73’s focus was to be the most powerful laptop in the world. Of course, with all the great hardware that it is equipped with, this machine appears to be much more bulky.
Rather than using the Intel Core i7 6700HQ quad core processor which is seen on most flagship machines out in the market, this MSI model decided to take it a step further. On this laptop, we can see a Intel Core i7 6820HK quad core instead. This CPU is clocked higher than the standard 6700HQ, thus providing much better performance for computation and games. The GT73 is also equipped with a whopping 32GB od DDR4 RAM and runs on Windows 10 Pro x64.
The TITAN GT73 is all about fancy designs and eye-catching details. The MSI Gaming logo at lid of the laptop lights up together with LED strips on the sides. It seems that this machine is trying to prove a point and intimidate any other machines out there. It is really positioned to be a hugely powerful gaming machine.
Because of the great hardware that it is equipped with, the MSI TITAN GT73 has to be adequately cooled. That is why, there are large fans at the rear of the device to effectively cool the components, ensuring reliability. Moreover, additional overclocking can be done on this unit and on the graphics card. This is made possible by the popular MSI Afterburner software, which allows enthusiasts to push the built in GTX 1080 graphics card even further.
The gaming laptop also features a RGB lit keyboard. Every key can be customized with different colours and effects via a software that is preinstalled on the machine.
On the left side of the machine, there are 3 x USB 3.0 ports and 4 x Audio I/O jacks.
On the right side, there are two more USB 3.0 ports and a single SD Card reader.
This machine also utilizes the rear of the device for more I/O ports. We can see a single Gigabit LAN port, a display port, a lightning port, a HDMI port and lastly, there is a uniquely shaped power jack.
This power hungry monster uses a huge power adapter that is rated to produce an output of 16.9A at 19.5V.
