Even though Windows 8.1 RTM has been previously leaked online, there are still quite a number of people who haven’t gotten their hands on it. Microsoft has confirmed the date of October 17th for the release of Windows 8.1. From today onwards, all current users on Windows 8 will be able to upgrade to the latest Windows 8.1 by downloading the updated OS from Windows Store.
The update has already rolled out since 7pm Singapore time just now. Official retail packages will be available from tomorrow onwards and prices will remain the same as Windows 8. Windows 8.1 will cost 119.99 USD while Windows 8.1 Pro will be at 199USD. OEM versions will arrive later.
Windows 8.1 brings in new features and more personalization options. These include the new IE 11, improvements in UI, a new experience in Windows Store, Sky Drive integration and other tweaks. Of course, the Start Button is also back.
