China manufacturer replicates UP by Jawbone, supersizes it and makes it cheaper for all

There is no good product in the market that will not be replicated in China. In fact, if your product has been copied by a China manufacturer, it means that your product has reached a certain popularity. It marks a new milestone for the product. It is a phase which almost all product and innovation companies have to go through. UP by Jawbone, a wristband and app that tracks how you sleep, move and eat has found their counterfeit in China.

The smart bracelet is so popular that a Chinese manufacturer “Codoon” is copying the product and then giving it even more features. It beats the actual version in terms of pricing and functionality. Codoon Sport is also paired together with a smartphone application. In its appearance, it looks almost identical to UP, but there are also small prominent differences. UP by Jawbone uses a closed single body design, but Codoon Sport can be seen with two screen at the side of the device. Also, the implementation of LED indication light on Codoon Sport is also not as precise as UP’s.

In terms of functionality, Codoon Sport has a full day 24 hours battery life and monitors your body status, tracks your calories burned, reminds you on your events, has a intelligent silent alarm that vibrates, shows the number of steps you have taken as well as sleeping quality monitoring. In terms of functionality, Codoon Sport shines as compared to UP by Jawbone.

Even though Codoon Sport has yet to reach the market, the manufacturer will be selling 500 pieces of test samples at 299yuan(60SGD) each to consumers. UP is being sold at 129.99USD (165SGD). Codoon also promises that these test samples can be exchanged to the actual final product when it is launched, continuing their love in tracking their body.
