Thorsten Heins, CEO for BlackBerry has announced a new QWERTY keypad smartphone at BlackBerry Live event in Orlando. BlackBerry Q5 will be based on the latest and greatest BlackBerry 10 Mobile Operating System and is targeted at emerging markets in the world.
BlackBerry Q5 has a physical QWERTY keyboard and will be preinstalled with the upcoming 10.1 update. Q5 aims to capture the hearts of QWERTY lovers in emerging markets, strengthening the user base of BlackBerry devices in a wider market segment. It will have a 3.1 inch touch screen. There was no mention of its selling price.
BlackBerry Q5 will be offered in specific regions in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin Amera. It is said to be available in stores in July this year.
BlackBerry Q5 comes in four colours, namely red, black, white and pink.
