Singapore – 15th March 2013
Google, making a claim that Adblock Plus is causing an “interference with another service or product in an unauthorized manner.”, removed it from the Google Play store on 14th March 2013.
In case you guys do not know what Adblock Plus is, it is basically a piece of advertisement blocking software that prevents advertisements from showing on your browser.
Adblock Plus unleashes its full potential only on rooted phones, one can only hope that other apps created for rooted phones do not get brought down due to other terms of violation.
Existing users are able to continue using the software however the upcoming update is only possible on Adblock Plus’s website. The next release will also have in-app updating capabilities thus users do not have to manually update from other app stores.
Here’s our view on it:
This naturally means that Google Ads will not be able to reach out to you. This causes advertisers who paid for Google Adsense to waste their money and may cause them to shift towards another platform for advertising. Google definitely doesn’t want that, which eventually caused them to bring Adblock Plus down from Google Play.
Adblock Plus’s next update will be released on the 19th March 2013 so keep a lookout for it on http://adblockplus.org/ . If you’re dying for a new update, check out their development builds over here!
