Samsung has launched the Galaxy A08 LTE in Singapore at a recommended retail price of S$278. The entry-level phone combines a 6,000mAh battery with a 6.7-inch 90Hz display and an unusually long update commitment for its price tier.

The local model comes in a single 4GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration, with Dark Blue, Silver and Green colour options. Samsung says it is available now through Samsung Experience Stores, its official Lazada, Shopee and TikTok stores, iShopChangi, and major consumer electronics and IT retailers. Sales through the Samsung Online Store and Samsung Shop App are scheduled to begin on 9 October 2026.
A bigger battery and basic camera hardware
The Galaxy A08 is built around a 6.7-inch PLS LCD with a 1,600 by 720-pixel resolution, 90Hz refresh rate and Infinity-U notch. It uses what Samsung identifies as a 6nm MediaTek Helio G99+ processor, accompanied by LPDDR5 memory and RAM Plus virtual-memory support.
Its 6,000mAh battery supports 25W wired fast charging. Samsung has not provided a measured battery-life figure, so real-world endurance will depend on display brightness, mobile-network conditions and workload.

The rear camera system consists of a 50-megapixel autofocus main camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. An 8-megapixel camera handles selfies and video calls. Those specifications cover the essentials, but Samsung has not supplied details such as sensor sizes, optical image stabilisation or supported video modes in the announcement.

Search and AI assistants on an affordable Galaxy
Samsung is positioning software as a significant part of the A08’s appeal. The phone supports an enhanced version of Circle to Search, including a Find the Look function for searching an outfit and the ability to identify nearby music.
Samsung also says users can invoke Google Gemini or Perplexity by voice or with a long press, then ask the assistants to work with supported Samsung, Google and selected third-party apps. Availability and behaviour may vary by app, account, language and service support; TTR has not tested these integrations on the Galaxy A08.
Despite those AI features, this is an LTE handset rather than a 5G model. Buyers weighing the S$278 price should therefore consider whether long-term software support and battery capacity matter more to them than access to 5G networks.
Six OS generations and IP64 protection
Samsung promises up to six generations of operating-system upgrades and six years of security updates for the Galaxy A08. The wording “up to” leaves the precise final Android version dependent on the phone’s launch software and Samsung’s update schedule, but the commitment is notable for a device at this price.

The phone is rated IP64. That rating indicates protection against dust ingress and splashing water, but not immersion, so it should not be treated as waterproof. Samsung Knox and Knox Vault are also included, with Knox Vault providing a hardware-backed environment intended to isolate sensitive data.

Singapore promotion runs from 9 October
