We got an early invite to try the upcoming HONOR Magic8 Pro, and the timing couldn’t have been better — the sneak preview was held at the Singapore Oceanarium in Sentosa, where low light, fast-moving marine life, and glowing tanks make it the perfect stress test for any camera.
And honestly? The Magic8 Pro handled it like a champ.
Ultra Night Telephoto in an Aquarium? Surprisingly good.
The 200MP Ultra Night Telephoto was the star of the night. I could zoom straight into the tanks and still capture crisp scales, glowing jellyfish, and tiny details that would usually disappear in the dark.

Even with fish darting around, the stabilisation kept everything steady. No smudgy motion blur, no washed-out colours — just clean detail.
Main Camera = natural colours + clean low light
Aquarium lighting can be tricky, but the 50MP Ultra Night Main Camera did so well with colour accuracy. Blues looked like real blues, not neon. Skin tones stayed natural too.

Also take a look at the details of the rope in this shot. Zoomed in, you could even see the frays on the rope.

Portraits that still pop in low light

One thing I was impressed by — portraits stayed sharp in the low lighting of the oceanarium. The AI lighting and bokeh looked subtle and flattering, not over-edited.
A quick video test
I also filmed a few clips while walking through the tunnels. Stabilisation + low-light performance = impressively smooth footage.
Final thoughts
If this preview is anything to go by, the HONOR Magic8 Pro might be one of the most reliable low-light phone cameras I’ve used. The telephoto, especially, is wild — you can zoom into details you wouldn’t normally see with the naked eye.
Pricing and full specs will be officially revealed at the HONOR Magic8 Pro launch event on 28 November 2025. We’re excited. Are you?
