Mechanical keyboard switch pioneer CHERRY has announced the availability of its new MX Blossom switch, a community-driven addition to its evolving lineup of custom-designed switches.
Joining the MX Northern Light, MX Falcon, and MX Petal, the MX Blossom continues Cherry’s mission to refine the tactile and linear feel that defines its legacy, while catering to the booming custom keyboard market.
Designed as a linear switch, the MX Blossom offers 35g of actuation force, 2mm pre-travel, and 3.8mm total travel, making it lighter and slightly faster than the classic MX Red, which requires 45g with a 4mm total travel. Unlike long-pole designs that produce a louder pop, the MX Blossom’s mechanism is close to the method of MX Speed, allowing for quick bottom-out without excessive noise.
Manufactured using Cherry’s MX2A process, the switch delivers smoother keystrokes, reduced stem wobble, and a fuller sound profile. Each switch comes pre-lubed and features a barrel-shaped spring for consistent pressure, complemented by a pink-and-white aesthetic inspired by sakura blossoms.
The MX Blossom is priced at €19.99 per box of 36 switches and is now available on Cherry’s official website, with wider retail availability expected through regional keyboard vendors soon.
