The Healthcare+ Expo Taiwan 2023 event that happened earlier this month has brought together global visitors and exhibitors for a showcase of technology and networking opportunities that ended with a positive vibe across the exhibition.
Featuring a record-breaking 2,300 booths, the event saw participation from over 650 domestic and international organizations which shows the support of various parties across the world towards the Taiwanese government’s commitment to advancing the medical industry through the integration of AI. This technology has the potential to optimize routine tasks such as report generation and appointment reminders, as well as contribute to groundbreaking discoveries in drug development and techniques addressing previously deemed “unsolvable” issues.
President Wong Chi-Huey of the Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry (IBMI) credited the exhibition’s success to Taiwan’s ability to blend robust healthcare quality and facilities with innovative technology through the SNQ certification and endorsement which is an annual process that recognizes healthcare teams influencing global treatment guidelines and enhancing healthcare quality.
Barry Lam, Vice President of IBMI, emphasized the importance of cross-disciplinary cooperation in driving technological advancements in medical and health applications.
With the ambition of becoming a global leader in AI smart healthcare, the expo represents just a part of IBMI’s initiatives as they are planning to have another expo tailored towards elder care and hospitality. It is in the planning stage and is scheduled for December 5 to 8 next year.
In her speech, President Tsai Ing-wen commended Taiwan’s strength and expertise in IT, healthcare, clinical practices, biomedical innovation, and precision healthcare since 2016. The enactment of the ‘Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries Development Act’ last year further demonstrated the government’s commitment to venturing into critical areas such as regenerative medicine, precision medicine, and digital healthcare.
As such, the cabinet has increased incentives for contract manufacturers in the biotechnology sector in order to reach the goal of NTD1 trillion projected market value as fast as possible.
