An excellent albeit underutilized material bound for the landfills…Until now. Introducing the Omnidesk ChopValue - Classic. Once a chopstick, now a statement piece

The Omnidesk ChopValue - Classic is essentially a mosaic of upcycled chopsticks that seeks to elevate your productivity without elevating your carbon footprint. This unique tabletop shares the same strength and tenacity as premium solid woods while its natural flexibility helps prevent warpage in the blistering tropics of Singapore. Visually, the Omnidesk ChopValue Classic features a mosaic of wood tones from warm auburn to bright golden streaks, resulting in an aesthetic reminiscent of early avant-garde pieces. Because of the sheer diversity of chopsticks used in its construction, each desk can possess wildly different wood grains and tonal streaks - giving each desk their very own fingerprint. Each desk will also feature an exclusive laser etching on the grommet cover to commemorate this momentous collaboration.

From Chopstick to ChopValue - Classic

The process begins with ChopValue urban harvesting from over 100 restaurant partners, hospitals, and offices in Singapore - ranging from famed Izakayas to Fortune 500 companies. After collection, the used chopsticks are sent to their micro-factory, where they are sorted and coated in a toxin-free resin. Instead of soaking the chopsticks in a vat of hot water to disinfect them, they are baked to 200 degrees Celsius in a specially designed kiln for 8 hours. Using an industrial grade hydraulic press, these chopsticks are then ultra-compressed into highly densified tiles to maximise tensile strength and durability. These tiles form the literal building blocks of the ChopValue - Classic. The tiles are handed over to ChopValue’s team of artisans tasked with the curation, assembly and finishing of the tabletops. These upcycled tiles take mere days to harvest and process, as opposed to the 10 to 30 years it takes to grow trees from scratch and the price the Earth pays for deforestation. Because of the elaborate nature of the production process, the Omnidesk ChopValue - Classic can only be produced in micro-batches and not mass produced like our other offerings.
