Disney and Lenovo gave audiences a sneak preview of a new augmented reality experience designed for Star Wars fans. “Star Wars : Jedi Challenges” is a augmented reality game that features an all-new augmented reality headset. This new game features a simulated AR environment where players will be able to hold the first-ever AR lightsaber, something essential for the whole Star Wars experience.
Introducing an All-New Star Wars Augmented Reality Experience
Today at the 2017 D23 Expo in Anaheim, Calif., Disney and Lenovo™ gave a first glimpse at a new augmented reality (AR) experience called “Star Wars™: Jedi Challenges.” Featuring an all-new augmented reality headset, the product was designed to give Star Wars fans an opportunity to recapture some of their favorite moments from Star Wars films in ways never before possible.
One of the experiences discussed was “Holochess” – as first seen played in a match between Chewbacca and R2-D2 in Star Wars: A New Hope. Like so many of the unforgettable moments from the Star Wars films, the technology to bring these experiences to life has never existed… until today.
An exclusive video was also shown to fans as a sneak peek at the first-ever AR product featuring a lightsaber – something we believe is essential for any Jedi experience.
