Introduction
CASIO Singapore announced the latest EXILIM EX-FR200 to their current lineup of freestyle action cameras in October last year. The EXILIM EX-FR200 is the successor to the previous EX-FR100 and EX-R10 models. We managed to get our hands on the new EXILIM EX-FR200 and wanted to have a quick look at the different features and performance of this action camera.
Specifications and Design
The EXILIM EX-FR200 is different from any usual action camera as it spots a fisheye lens that shoots 21.14MP still images and even 4K videos. This fisheye lens allows the images to appear extra wide at 185°. To get you even more excited, the EXILIM EX-FR200’s panorama mode will even enable 360 degree views! This is just one of the many different features that are available with this camera. We will leave the different modes of operation that are available on the EXILIM EX-FR200 at the later part of the article.

The EXILIM EX-FR200 is also rugged in design, and can withstand shocks. It is also rated IPX8 and IPX6, which means that it is both waterproof and dustproof.
The bundled package also comes with the EX-FR200CT controller which is used to control the main camera unit. Once the controller is connected to the camera unit via bluetooth, all live images from the camera unit can be streamed wirelessly and directly to the screen of the controller unit. This allows the whole setup to perform like any other camera! Moreover, as the screen is also touch enabled, navigating and controlling of the different functions of the camera can also be done very easily.
CASIO has designed the user interface of the controller unit well. With the guidance of the user interface on the controller, the camera unit can be operated seamlessless. Moreover, as the camera unit and controller are separated, battery life can be extended on both units individually.

The EXILIM EX-FR200 captures decent photos in the above capture modes. Interesting perspectives like dome and panorama modes are only possible with the unique capabilities of the camera unit. Photos appears to be clear and well lit under good light conditions. Colour reproduction was also quite accurate, and images were not seen as over exposed or white washed.

Rather than just a usual action camera, CASIO has built into multiple lifestyle features into the EXILIM EX-FR200. This has made it possible photos of different perspectives to be captured. The EXILIM EX-FR200 is a highly versatile camera system that excels in capturing of moments with its ultra wide angle lens.
Content creators or social media influencers who are looking into capturing 360° videos or photos can consider this unit as their daily equipment.
